wow, I didn’t know that the internet has been existing in the Philippines for 13 years now. I just came across Yuga’s blog entry posted last year and everyone’s been posting and commenting how long they’ve been using the internet.

Back to memory lane…

gosh, I just realized I miss a lot of people already.

Back in 1996, I remember only a few ISPs: Skyinet, Mozcom and Pworld. My brother introduced me to the internet and got hooked up immediately to IRC. I met a bunch of friends there… Nina, the guillen kids Flyderman, Comet, Ernie, the abarrientos sisters dejibu and belle, animal, nesty, patti, seymour, superoink, verm, palito, and I forgot the rest of the peeps! My nick back then was “trix” because I used to love those cereals. We had occassional EB’s in Club Filipino. I remember celebrity Lorna Tolentino bringing her kids there because Rap and his bro are both chatters.

Some of them became my barkada and we called ourselves the swooshsters.

Eventually, I grew up and got tired of chatting. We still kept our friendship and one became a boyfriend, now an ex. that’s a different story.

The internet was not quite popular back then, so, one time, I had to do some research in Child Psychology and I ended up copying and pasting all the contents of a website without reading it. got 1.5 for that!

Anyway, here’s a mirror of my first attempt to create a webpage. Here’s a list of my trash collected over the years.

A lot of things have evolved but one thing’s for sure, if I’d get tangled on the web due to its complexities, I’d still be thankful for its existence.
