Carnivores on a date

We were in a steak mood last night. so instead of going to the usual burgoo, friday’s or some casual steak house, we opted to try Alfredo’s along Tomas Morato.

Ambiance was nice. Old house feeling with a twist of western ambiance. The resto was on the 2nd floor, so an old staircase led us to the dining area.

I ordered my regular-sized Australian beef T-bone, as usual, cooked medium. So did my hon. The bottle of water i had was 50 bucks.

Our bread and soup came, then the plain garden salad with thousand island dressing. i’m not a fan of this kind of dressing, so, i didn’t get to finish the salad.

Then came the steaks. Big slab, i must say. When the gravy was poured over it, the smell brought me to a trance.

His steak (sorry if it’s blurry)

Mine, mine, mine!

Tasting came… I really didn’t know why, but, despite the medium doneness with some blood oozing out of the meat, i found it a bit tough. The flavor is.. I dunno, we both found it a bit bland. Something’s lacking. We were not happy with our steaks. We could have gone a couple more blocks to Steak MD for some tasty but inexpensive steak! gah!

Lastly, my hon asked me to taste his ice tea. It tasted like too much vanilla, or some other syrup. We were just disappointed.

Our dessert came. It’s called “black and white”. It’s an ice cream cake. Just like Burgoo’s mudpie, it’s great, but we still love burgoo’s version with the ginger bread cookie crust.

Sad to say, we were not satisfied with our steak. We were wondering why some people are raving about the steaks here. Service is good, we gave them some hefty tips for the service and ambiance despite the 10% service charge included in our bill.

Melo’s is still the best fine-dining steak house for me. Alba’s also serves good steaks. Other casual dining resto’s which serve steak include Burgoo, Chili’s and Friday’s. Tony Roma’s has very good steaks too, and the best baby back ribs!

If you’re in a tight budget, try Steak MD. It’s located at the creekside along Morato. Never try the cheap steak houses like In and Out. You’ll get all the rubbery, cholesterol-laden meat.
