U23D rocks!

I’ve been raving to my honey about the U23D film shown in IMAX in Mall of Asia since I read it in Our Awesome Planet.

So after some pasta-making (yep, he assisted me in rolling the dough in the pasta maker!) and some indulging in some freshly-made good food (menu: spaghetti with fresh pasta and ripe mango shake), we headed to Mall of Asia yesterday.

The IMAX cinema is BIG. The screen is TALL and W I D E. The cinema wasn’t filled so it’s even better. The 3D glasses looked plain, as if they’re just ordinary glasses… that’s what I first thought.

They showed a preview of “T-Rex” first and gosh, it was sooooooooo cool! The T-Rex almost pops out of the screen, as if you can touch its head!

Later on, the concert started.. Crisp colors and there were times I felt I was part of the concert. Sometimes, you feel some people in the audience were actually there in front of us.

During the beginning, I was pretty excited. After a couple of songs, it’s like, I can get used to it and it’s nothing extraordinary. :(

It was such an experience, though. First of its kind – a concert in 3D. It’s cool and it’s nice. However, if i’m not a die-hard U2 fan, I wouldn’t be spending P350 on this. I’d rather buy food. Good thing I didn’t spend a single centavo on this concert-movie. :)

Making fresh pasta

i’ve been planning to make my own pasta for about a week now but i didn’t have time. Preparation was probably around 2 hours because I also made the sauce while making the pasta… whew! don’t do that, aight?

I got some ideas over the internet and some basic flour to egg ratio.

Ingredients:

2 c flour

2 medium-sized eggs

Step 1. Make a well in your flour

Step 2. Crack the eggs in the middle, one at a time (hahaha no pic here because my egg slid outside the walls of the flour and some eggwhites spilled on the floor. ;D)

Step 3. Incorporate some flour into the egg little by litte using a fork (i skipped this, since the egg spilled, i immediately grabbed the eggs and immediately KNEADED – see step 4)

Step 4. If the mixture becomes too thick for the fork, start kneading.

Step 5. Knead for another 10-15 minutes. If the dough gets too dry, add a few drops of water, if it gets too sticky, add some flour. I added another egg on my dough.

Step 6. Test the dough if kneading is enough – press the dough a bit and if it springs back, it means it has been kneaded good. :) DO NOT SKIP THE KNEADING PART. *i skipped the little by little mixing of egg and flour but never skipped this. I also made sure that there are not bits of flour or lumps in my dough.

Step 7. Wrap in clingfilm and let the dough rest for 15 minutes.

Step 6. Divide the dough by 4 and run the dough piece starting from the thickest to the thinnest, 3x each setting. Then use the cutter for the tagliatelle. Sprinkle with some flour to avoid sticking.

Finished product:

The pasta can be cooked in boiling water with salt added, in just 5-6 minutes! :) NEAT! hehehe

One of the best videos I got was from Video Jug: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-make-fresh-pasta It doesn’t make use of a pastamaker, though.

I loved making it. It requires some time, though. First time I made fresh pasta was when i was a teener. I used to hang the pasta on clothes hangers hung around the house. hehehe That was a bit messy too. this one’s better.
