Amici!!!!

blame the craving on Fids! hahaha

Well, I got curious when he mentioned it in his multiply, more curious when Jing said there’s one in Morato.

Went to 168 this evening to pick my fiancé and TaBY up and I thought it was just an illusion…. the old CPK has become Amici!

I immediately asked my very tired Jinggs to have dinner there instead.

Upon entering the brightly-lit resto, the guard gave us a list for the menu. A heaven of desserts will welcome you before you get to the counter. I was thinking of ordering gelati first instead of the main course. :D

I had lasagne and we shared a whole Tutta Carne pizza. The wait wasn’t long, we’re happy.

Lasagna

Well, I’m a big fan of lasagna but I didn’t fancy this one. Their sauce was too creamy and it’s herb-infused, which kinda ruined the taste of the tomatoes and cheese. The moment it was delivered, I smelled strong anise. The pasta itself isn’t al dente like I usually want.

Pizza

We got Tutta Carne, which is superb! My hon loved it! It’s baked in brick oven, which is not quite common (yet). There’s this kind of doneness in the crust you get only with brick oven baking.

Tutta Carne

It’s infused with mozarella and italian herbs (basil, oregano, marjoram and some other herbs), topped with italian sausages and 2 kinds of ham. it’s reaaaaally good for a simple price of P270.

Gelati=heaven

the heavenly desserts which you see the moment you enter the ristorante. I had my usual hazelnut gelato (nocciola). Being the hazelnutfreak i am, it’s always my way to calibrate if their gelato is good. Jinggs got strawberry (that’s his calibration).

He got my hazelnut’s first bite and I was surprised he said it is good! He’s never a fan of hazelnut but I always trust him when he says he likes something.

saraaaaaaaaaaap!!! yay calories!

Anyway, all-in-all, I liked their food. We’ll probably order different dishes next time. Pasta prices range from P160-P195 (hefty servings, good for two); 12-inch pizzas from P260-P310 and gelati at P50 per masarap na scoop. hehehe Fast service and definitely we’ll come back to this ristorante! :)

just seeing those good food makes me reminisce of the same good stuff i had 3 years ago..

good Sicilian pizza and
some capuccinos

Old Chinatown Kopitiam

I’ve read Anton’s review of Old Chinatown Kopitiam a couple of months ago. It was indeed, helpful.

We’re just a few blocks from Banawe and we decided to try this out last Friday.

Good food

I’m a fan of spareribs, so I ordered their Kopitiam Spareribs. Spareribs marinated in, yes, kopi, i mean, coffee. The sweet sauce doesn’t taste of coffee but Jinggs tasted it and told me the taste of coffee is evident.

Anyway, he ordered his Pineapple Chicken. He loved every single bit of it, but it just lacked sauce. The chicken fillets are flavorful and there’s really a balance of sweet-fruity and saltiness to it.

Jinggs said we’ll come back to that resto for their food.

The place

The resto is actually small. We went there and we’re the 5th group. the place was already full.

Ambiance is nice and there’s a rustic feel to it.

Coming back for more!

Hahaha we said we’ll come back to the place. We just did, but didn’t expect to come back this soon.

Friday and Sunday – our OCK days. This time, we went there with Scott.

The waiter was nice enough to remember me and commented we sat at the same exact place again.

We ordered my honey’s favorite, Pineapple Chicken. We tried Pepper Pork Tenderloins and Jumbo Siomai.

Good food – that’s always the reason why we always come back for more. We’ll come back but maybe not too soon…. just maybe.

2008 IPv6 Summit: Philippines moving forward to IPv6 (May 21-22, ‘08)

…and i thought i’d have to be a geek to understand this.

Not really. My boss and I were there to listen and learn. Everybody in the summit was human! no aliens nor superhuman intelligence talk there. :)

We were looking forward to seeing Dr. Vint Cerf of Google, also known as “the father of internet”, but he gave a message only through a video he called “Virtual Vint”.

Local people who gave important points were Dennis Villorente, Ceejay Dideles of ASTI and Amante Alvaran of PHNOG. Latif Ladid, President of IPv6 Forum, “Mr. CISCO” Tony Hain, Annaliza Mulingbayan of APNIC, Philip Smith of Cisco, Laurence Hughes of Infoweapons, and John Crain of ICANN, were all there to enlighten us on the issue.

There were really a bunch of speakers during the 2-day event. Some of them were obviously promoting their products we were very disinterested in, and some, just plainly bored us.

Awareness

It’s actually somewhat an awareness. The event made made a lot of people realize how a problem of running out of IPv4 will cost us.

The usual IP addresses that we normally use and don’t care about  (ie, one of google’s IP address is 208.67.219.231,  the IP address 202.164.185.99 will bring you jollibee.com.ph) is actually limited. So they’re trying to find ways on how to expand this kind of addressing so that each site has a unique IP address.

By 2010, most of us will not care about this, but all IP addresses will be exhausted. Remember, they use a certain format…. 4 bunches of numbers separated by dots. IPv6 will contain 8 groups of hexadecimals  separated by colons (:).

If everyone has migrated to IPv6 and you’re one of the few who hasn’t migrated to IPv6, it’s like you have your own world. Kinda like the twilight zone but it’s just boring.

Anyway, the summit talked about how far the Philippines’ neighbors have come into (almost) migrating to IPv6 and what will be the ways to migrate them.

It will cost us money and time, but it’s really better to start migrating (or even learning) while it’s still early.

of course, i’m going to rant!

after more than a week of no internet here at home, i’m glad it’s partially fixed.  well, pldt, our dsl provider sucks, as usual. they say it’s fixed, when i get home, it’s not.

now, it’s a bit stable for an hour now, but still, the wireless and the other device don’t work. so i’ll be seeing our office this weekend, same with kat. :( *sigh*

hate flood, lovin’ taby

it took me 2 hours to get home from the office. well, because of a lot of things:

- it rained very hard. it was just a quickie but, all i can say is, “oh dear”

- traffic because of two things: flood and roadwork. they really had to leave those blocks of concrete on the road!
- i was starving. dropped by burger king to buy myself dinner. got there, no seats. i ate my meal in my car with my own music. there’s this guy in the parking lot confronting his friend on the phone. i got pissed off and left the parking lot. i should’ve done drive thru instead.
- from BK to house, it took me probably half an hour’s worth of detour

dad had to set up monobloc chairs so i can step on them to get to our garage. TaBY parked in the gasoline station.

i love my car!

first, the AC didn’t work. after a few minutes of figuring out what else to do, it suddenly gave in and i had cool air.

next, españa is known for the knee-deep floods. good thing janice hitched. i got someone to rant to. i was totally nervous while driving because the water’s a bit deep, it might ruin anything inside the machine… glad it didn’t stall. yipee!

i’m not a religious person, but hey, prayers do work!

IPV6

i’ll be here tomorrow! rant? well, i’m no network genius, not even a cisco-certified gal.  i’m not even sure if i’ll understand what these guys will be talking about. good luck!

yet, another fun-filled weekend!

Friday, we watched “Iron Man” again in Trinoma, but this time, with our doubledatemates, Bong and Ria. We waited until the end of the movie so we can watch the extra scene.. which is another reason why we watched the movie again. :)

Saturday, I bought batteries for my PC and my brother’s PC. Had to make his other lan card work. Unfortunately, I got to repair it Sunday afternoon. More about it later.

Had another double date with Bong and Ria. Had dinner at KFC around 8pm and we went to Pan Pacific just to have desserts at their lounge… hehehe

21st floor – their Pacific Lounge. Quiet… really quiet, almost no people around and man, they have the best view of Manila. We got a couple of couches right beside the window, near the corner where the grand piano is. Bong played the piano occasionally. We had a choice of checking out the Manila Bay side or the Manila-Makati side. Just plain wonderful.

We ordered Raspberry-Chocolate Mousse, Marble Cheesecake, Mango Cream Tart, and they had coffee. The desserts, especially the Mango Cream Tart was.. mmm, just delish!

Mango Tart

The oh-so-good Mango Cream Tart

The Marble Cheesecake

Raspberry-Chocolate Mousse

The Raspberry Chocolate “Mouse”, hehehe MOUSSE

Such a perfect Saturday night! Too bad we didn’t get to bring our cameras for the nice view and their rooftop garden.

We got the nicest view in town!

More pictures here

Sunday – Worked on my PC and my brother’s PC. Nothing really wrong with mine, just had to replace the battery for the clock. Also removed each key of the keyboard to clean it. When I put them all back, my keyboard got busted. well, i tried to replace it with my brother’s keyboard and it won’t work too. Probably the connection in the CPU got busted.. maybe grounded. aaargh!

How I wish everyday is a weekend!

iron man

Quite a movie.. a long but wonderful one. Went to the mall quite early because I’m expecting there will be a lot of people. it’s a holiday!

From the parking lot queue, the ticket booth queue, to the movie itself.. they were all LONG. hehehe it was all worth it anyway. I didn’t actually notice the length of the movie until it ended, realizing it was almost 3pm. It means it didn’t bore me. :) I didn’t fall asleep. I RAN for a bathroom break.

Since I had a bathroom break, I missed some scenes. We also didn’t get to see the after credits scene, which my brother just told me. So, we’ll be watching it again anytime sooner. hehehe

For Iron Man fans, the plot will not be based on the Vietnam war, but in Afghanistan.

Script-wise, I’m no script writer nor literary genius but my shallow personality found some of their lines entertaining. Try to look for Stan Lee here and you’ll get a good laugh. :)

good movie! i likey!
