just hanging out

Friday

Went out with Jinggs after work and had dinner at trinoma.

We tried Sizzling Pepper Steak. He had a regular rib eye steak and i had my sizzling beef. His was so-so, Snackaroo’s is way better and cheaper. Mine was good. Sizzling beef teriyaki. mmmm! Too bad, this resto didn’t satisfy our taste buds.

For dessert, we had ice cream at cold rock. I had a Ferrero ice cream mixed with Cadbury Flake and Nutella (mmm!). Jinggs had… well, bubblegum with cookie dough and raspberries. Weird noh?

We both love bubblegum ice cream but this one was just different. :D

just hanging out part 2

well, my saturday wasn’t done when I posted this previous post.

After the movie “Wanted”, I went home to work. After work, met up with my hon, Bong and Ria, our doubledatemates. We had our usual steaks at Snackaroo.

Then we all met up with Oliver and Haidee. Triple date, I guess. :D Hung out at Starbucks Corinthian Gardens. Quite far just to have coffee, but it feels good just to relax and chat with them.

Bong and Ria fooling around

Oliver and Haidee had to part ways with us and the doubledatemates just played pool. We all had become rusty in playing pool (especially me, the kulelat). We all had fun though. It was a long day for us, but definitely, very SULIT!

nakaka-miss yung ibang tao dito. those were the days.

busy tuesday

it’s supposed to be a holiday but it’s no rest day for me, as always.

worked at home early. no pay. no social life. was supposed to go to the grocery with mom, canceled because of this.

supposed to celebrate lunar with hon, i don’t know if we’re to push through with it.

wasn’t able to do my sunday chores because of the storm and i’m planning to do them today… well, i’m not quite sure. maybe i can.

this sucks.

Sudden Sunday

It’s probably carelessness of some human beings why floods happen. When I was a kid, our streets don’t get flooded. Now, it’s like mother nature thinks our area is invisible.

It’s just a disaster day for me. First, the typhoon had hit Metro Manila a bit hard, flood water even entered the house. :(

Then, all of a sudden, there goes my room… a big leak on the roof. sudden dripping of brownish water near my tv and computer. i had to transfer my tv to a safer place and place buckets to catch the dripping water.

Jinggs called for an emergency with his niece and I had to rush to the hospital to meet up with them. I waded through the flooded street with plastic bags wrapped to my feet! hahah! i looked stupid!

We met up but we had to transfer to a different hospital. thus, we had no choice but to travel the flooded streets of Manila using TaBY.

sudden power outage, sudden floods, sudden emergencies, sudden expenses… Oh well. Everything’s fine now, except for our website at work which doesn’t load. :S

father’s day

Thanks for those who remembered me on my birthday. *besos* y *abrazos* to you! :)

Had a nice lunch here with the family at home to celebrate Father’s Day. Cooked lasagna and had leftover cakes from yesterday’s celebration.

Had to stay home until 7 for work… which was useless because the page ain’t loadin! (i tried again 9:30pm, it hasn’t loaded since!)

Oh well. Went to Gateway with Jinggoy hoping we could watch a movie. Unfortunately, it was too late, we didn’t get to catch the 8:10 showing. We couldn’t watch the last full show anymore, he has to sleep and go to work tonight. oh well, another day ruined.

Happy father’s day to your dads and all the dads reading this!

Friday the 13th, 28 in ‘08

I’ve been having headaches and been feeling dizzy for the past 3-4 days. i threw up on thursday.

Friday the 13th

I had my eyes checked at the Manila Doctor’s. Guess what! My left is far-sighted, my right is near-sighted and i have astigmatism. o_0 hmmm.. weird noh? all 3 ailments. So my hon and I went to the mall of asia to buy my prescription glasses. nice, what a wonderful birthday gift. a total makeover, i guess. :S

While waiting for my glasses and letting time pass by (coding), we had a very late lunch at the Highlands Steakhouse (pictures later).

Ambiance is great. Log cabin feel, very, very cozy. The view of Manila Bay makes you feel like you’re not in Manila. The food attendants in cowboy hats, jeans and boots look cool.

Gosh, they have the BEST steak EVER!!!!! Hon got his US prime rib, medium. It’s better than Melo’s, Tony Roma’s, Casa Armas, or wherever we’ve had steak so far. It’s something worth the price! It is juicy, tender and flavorful. We’ll definitely be back there someday.

Roasted Prime Rib (weheheh took this shot from my angle)

I had my large share of my baby back ribs (of course). It’s with La Maison’s level but i like LM’s.

Baby Back Ribs

We rated their steak “Excellent”. It’s a great pre-birthday for me from my honey. :)

After steaks, we watched “The Happening”. Just check it out. Creepy factor is low. My hon got a bit disappointed but it was just ok with me. Makes you want to theorize too.

My birthday, the 14th

Morning, got my cakes from dad! Peach Walnut Torte (pictured below) and Mango Tart from Conti’s.

Had lunch at Cabalen with the gang: Bong and Ria, Oliver and Haidee, Scott, and my honey.

The boys with their signature shot

Spotted at the Trinoma: Bong and Ria; Bong and Scott. Who’s hiding what and who knows what?

After the heavy lunch, us girls went shopping while the boys had their own itinerary that we found out after shopping: videoke.

The three of us bought shoes each from Naturalizer. Yipee! My bday gift for myself.

I had to cut the fun and left them at Red Box while I went home to work :( I didn’t get to sing with them at all.

Later, we’ll be having dinner with my folks. :)

tea and pastry

Tea
Got a good find yesterday.

I’m a big fan or caramel and it thought of picking this up from the supermarket shelf when i bought stuff for my sick hon.

Just add sugar and milk (or creamer) for a latté taste. I always like my tea strong, so I prefer soaking the teabag in hot water instead of just dunking it a couple of times or for a few seconds.

Taste: It truly has a caramel taste with a nutty essence to it. Since it’s black, it still has a malty after taste. However, there were a few times the caramel scent was somewhat like coconut (which I didn’t like), especially if it’s just in the packet.

Pastry

Thought of baking some carrot cakes last Saturday. I’ve been craving for one with cream cheese frosting, so I got this nice recipe from the ever-reliable Epicurious.com.

I didn’t really use up the whole recipe but instead, used half of it. I used only 1 pan but half of the recipe has a lot of frosting, so mom made another one the next day. :) No nuts for us because we just didn’t like nuts.

The result: Very easy to make. Tasty and moist cake with a very rich and sweet frosting.

I’ll probably lessen the sugar in the frosting next time. Some recommended incorporation of apple sauce, but I couldn’t find it here in the local market.  All-in-all, it was really a good one. 4 out of 5 spoons for this.

grrr!

don’t ask why. if you know, just keep quiet.  you know i’m in a bad mood and havin’ a bad day.

I am not perfect. i cannot read your mind. don’t expect me to know everything. i have a life of my own too.
