tea and pastry

Tea
Got a good find yesterday.

I’m a big fan or caramel and it thought of picking this up from the supermarket shelf when i bought stuff for my sick hon.

Just add sugar and milk (or creamer) for a latté taste. I always like my tea strong, so I prefer soaking the teabag in hot water instead of just dunking it a couple of times or for a few seconds.

Taste: It truly has a caramel taste with a nutty essence to it. Since it’s black, it still has a malty after taste. However, there were a few times the caramel scent was somewhat like coconut (which I didn’t like), especially if it’s just in the packet.

Pastry

Thought of baking some carrot cakes last Saturday. I’ve been craving for one with cream cheese frosting, so I got this nice recipe from the ever-reliable Epicurious.com.

I didn’t really use up the whole recipe but instead, used half of it. I used only 1 pan but half of the recipe has a lot of frosting, so mom made another one the next day. :) No nuts for us because we just didn’t like nuts.

The result: Very easy to make. Tasty and moist cake with a very rich and sweet frosting.

I’ll probably lessen the sugar in the frosting next time. Some recommended incorporation of apple sauce, but I couldn’t find it here in the local market.  All-in-all, it was really a good one. 4 out of 5 spoons for this.
